~*~Summary~*~

The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods-have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals-well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures. Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden. Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.

~*~Lili's Reflections~*~

I have no words for how awesome this book was. It is no secret that I am a huge fan of Jennifer L. Armentrout andshe never disappoints. This is one of those page-turning, never-putting-down, can't-stop-thinking-about-it books. She had me hooked from the very beginning again.

Alex and her mother ran away from the Convenant for unknown reasons three years ago. After a set of bloodthirsty daimons (prounounced demons) attacked their home, the Covenant tracked them down and forced Alex back into the Covenant. She has one summer to memorize and master all the fighting techniques that she missed in the past three years with her teacher, the pure-blood Sentinel Aiden. But while her training progressed, she quickly found herself falling for him--something that she was absolutely forbidden from doing. Such a thing would result in servitude, or worse...death.

Alexandria is a character that is very easy to love. She's fluent in the language of sarcasm and is always finding ways to break the rules. Rule-breaking is in her love, she simply wouldn't be her if she wasn't breaking the rules. More than anything, she wanted to become a Sentinel and hunt down the daimons because they so often took away the lives of innocent pure-bloods, half-bloods, and sometimes even humans for fun. Her strong-will is respectable and she will literally endure the most feared and painful situations to save her friends. She's a friend that you'd want on your side.

The romance is pretty great, too. Aiden is very easy to fall in love with. He's strong, protective, and powerful. Not to mention the fact that he is level-headed, intelligent, and can relate to Alexandria in ways that a lot of people at the Covenant can't. He's having just as hard of a time struggling with the fact that she's a half-blood that is three years younger than him as she is. He's not your average pure, and that's what makes him all the more enticing.

The plot is reminiscent of the Vampire Academy series. I get that, I see the resemblances, they're definitely there, but Half-Blood also has a lot of originality to it. It's action-packed and incredibly descriptive. You can see all the kicks, the punches thrown, and daggers hurled as if it is happening before your eyes. Either way, I would recommend this book to Vampire Academy fans, as well as pretty much any young adult reader that is as big of a romantic as I am. Any action lover will be more than satisfied with what lies in wait within this book as well. A must read for pretty much anyone.

Yet another 5 star novel presented by Jennifer L. Armentrout that'll leave you breathless and begging for more. JLA will never disappoint.

~*~Cover~*~

This series have covers that will go down as my all-time favorite covers for an entire series. I am hoping with all my heart that Jennifer L. Armentrout doesn't randomly decide to change the covers because I love them all so much. Look at it! It's a beautiful purple flower that looks as if it is made of flames/light. I just can't stop looking at it! This would get an A++ if I were to grade it.

  1. So I finally stopped being a bog old lame butt and bought Half-Blood. I just started it a couple of days ago and I now know that I am even more of a lame butt. I love it so far. In a big way. I can't wait to see where the rest of the series goes. Team Aidan all the way.
