Ingrid and Gabby survived the Underneath. They saved their brother, Grayson, from a future of dark servitude and exposed a plot to undermine the Alliance. But danger still lurks in the streets of Paris, and the Dispossessed, perched on the city's bridges and rooftops, might not be able to save their human wards this time.

~*~Lili's Reflections~*~

I honestly feel like this series is one of those undiscovered gems in the book publishing industry. It's just so good, yet for some reason it is not widely known. I think I may have to make it my mission to change that. The covers alone are gorgeous and what is inside is always wonderful as well.

I don't have much to say about this book because I'm very satisfied, so this review will be short and sweet.

The Waverly siblings have quite a bit on their plate. Actually, that's an understatement. They have heaping boatloads of insanity on their plates, though they ball are dealing with their own brands of insanity.

And, somehow, while their world is thrown into chaos, romance is still in the air. Watching Ingrid and Luc's relationship progress is always a pleasure. These two are star-crossed lovers to the extreme. He is fierce and loyal and perfect, but his being a protective gargoyle can really get in the way of things, you know? And, unfortunately, there is the hints of a love triangle, but the story is written so well I can't bring myself to be mad.

I also really enjoyed Gabby's character growth in this one. Because of everything that happened at the end of book one and her feeling virtually helpless, she is desperate to prove to herself that she can battle. She is strong and she wants the world to see it, thus she wants to become a Demon Hunter. It's impossible not to admire this girl and her tenacity, even if it involves doing things that aren't very ladylike.

All in all, I can't find a way to explain anything else without being spoilery because I just want to scream about how much I enjoyed this one. If you are a young adult fan and want something unique, this is definitely a book for you. It deserves immense love.

  5. Yay! I'm glad you enjoyed The Lovely and The Lost as well, Lili. It does seem to be an undiscovered jewel, and I hope more readers discover Page Morgan's writing. Book one had me with its scrumptious, yet Gothic setting and Eeeek - those creatures, Hellhounds and demons. And the story/series just seems to be getting even more interesting. You put it perfect in your review: Ingird and Luc are such star-crosses lovers *sigh* :)

  11. I agree wholeheartedly that this series needs to be more widely known. I picked up the first in the series last year at the library, and then I devoured it at home within a couple of hours. Absolutely wonderful! I have not had the chance YET to read The Lovely and the Lost, but I am so ready for it! And hearing that it didn't lose any of what made the first book so special makes me incredibly happy. The covers are beautiful, aren't they?!
