According to the guys at Fairfield Academy, there are two types of girls: the kind you hook up with, and the kind you're friends with. Seventeen-year-old Alyssa Reed is the second type. And she hates it. With just one year left to change her rank, she devises a plan to become the first type by homecoming, and she sets her sights on the perfect date—Justin Carter, Fairfield Academy’s biggest hottie and most notorious player.

With 57 days until the dance, Aly launches Operation Sex Appeal and sheds her tomboy image. The only thing left is for Justin actually to notice her. Enter best friend Brandon Taylor, the school’s second biggest hottie, and now Aly’s pretend boyfriend. With his help, elevating from “funny friend” to “tempting vixen” is only a matter of time.

But when everything goes according to plan, the inevitable “break up” leaves their friendship in shambles, and Aly and Brandon with feelings they can’t explain. And the fake couple discovers pretending can sometimes cost you the one thing you never expected to want.

What has been your favorite part of writing your companion series?
I have a blast with the entire process--choosing characters, digging into the high school experience, sharing snippets. But my favorite part of this series has been the reader reaction and all the emails I've gotten. It means so much that readers love these characters as much as I do. All I can say is if you loved The Fine Art of Pretending, just wait until you read The Natural History of Us!!

The second book, The Natural History of Us, comes out in 2016. Can you give us any hints as to what we can expect?
This book honestly tried to kill me, but in the end, it is my favorite thing I've written hands down. It's dual POV and dual timeline in a second chance romance type of story, so you get to know these characters when they fell in love freshman year and again when they are thrown together senior year. It's about redemption and hope, healing and strength. It has some of my favorite laugh out loud moments, and my swooniest hero yet. I'm so excited for this book!!!

What is the most interesting thing you have Googled in the name of research?
For this series...the most interesting thing I Googled would have to be YouTube videos teens created for their electronic baby assignments. There are so many out there filled with helpful information but I must admit it is the funny ones where the babies won't shut up and the teens just stare into the camera like this O.O that were my favorite :) I also looked up some killer recipes for Aly's brownies...Yep, she makes an appearance and you know that means she's bringing chocolate.

What is one series you would recommend to readers?
If you love The Fine Art of Pretending, I think you would love Lizzy Charles's Effortless With You and Perfectly Messy. And while you're at it, read Bring the Rain. I'm a LC fan girl :) Oh! And Kelly Oram's stuff. And Ginger Scott. I could go on and on really lol

Thor, Iron Man, or Captain America? GO!
Captain America. But honestly, it's a win any way you slice it
